Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Advisor
Closing Date:  June 7, 2011  

Location:  Calgary, Alberta  

Description:  Provide overall support with management and efficiency of
CO2 lifecycle.

Duties:  This role will have a technical and a strategic focus:

Technical Focus:

Develop plans to reduce the CO2 emissions and increase efficiency
through various measures including mitigation, avoidance, offsets and
carbon capture and storage (CCS), in conjunction with focused support
Develop plans to utilize available funding for CO2 mitigation
Knowledge of the regulatory environment, federal and provincial / state
regarding GHG, CO2, CCS, offsets and develop strategies to ensure
Understanding the bigger GHG challenge and how it impacts Canada and
North America operations
Understand and influence the integrated CO2 life cycle of the business
and determine the overall efficiency
Modeling of various climate change / GHG regulatory scenarios to assess
Talisman's risks (financial and operational) and provide recommendations
to senior leadership

Strategic Focus:

Influence industry peers, governments and NGO's, directly and indirectly
through participation on leading industry associations to the benefit of
shareholders and enhancing Talisman's reputation
Focal point for climate change and greenhouse gas policy and regulatory
developments within Canada and US as well as international
Represent Talisman and assume leadership roles on key industrial climate
change and greenhouse gas regulatory and policy committees, and direct
engagement with government
Provide strategic guidance and advice to senior leadership on climate
change strategies and impact of evolving regulations and emission
reduction opportunities
Represent Talisman's broader position and interests in influencing
government policies with respect to climate change strategy, with
emphasis on policies which have global implications
Global focal point for development and implementation of greenhouse gas
compliance strategies
Develop internal policy position and advocacy strategy aligned across
current and future business activities

Qualifications:  Technical undergraduate Degree (Engineering or similar)
with relevant business experience
15+ years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas / Petrochemical
Experience in climate change / GHG data modeling systems and techniques
to assess financial and operational risks
Ability to understand the entire lifecycle of oil and gas production,
upstream through manufacturing to products to market and integrate with
all relevant stakeholders
Ability to understand, develop and integrate the financial models and
business case for GHG management
Understanding of Canada and US regulatory environments and the impact
thereof on the business

Candidate Profile

Proven ability to work in collaborative team environments
Previous experience working with in strategic alliances or collaborative
arrangements would be considered a strong asset
Strong problem solving, analytical, communication and networking skills
Ability to work within multi-functional matrix teams
Willing to travel

Additional Information
